Tom Simpson Merino Wool Cycling Jersey
Tom Simpson was one of Britain’s most successful professional cyclists.
He was the first Briton to wear the yellow jersey in the Tour de France and in 1965 became Britain's first World Champion in the road race.
He won Milan-San Remo, the Giro Lombardia, Paris-Nice and the Tour of Flanders.
But he is best known for his untimely death on the 13th stage of the 1967 Tour de France.
Climbing Mont Ventoux, Simpson lost time on the front group and began to zig-zag across the road before falling a kilometer from the summit.
On his insistence – his last words being 'On, on, on' - he was put back on his bike and he managed another 500m before falling unconscious on the bike, held up by spectators, hands clenched on the handlebars. Helicoptered to hospital, he died about an hour later, still with amphetamines and other unknown drugs in his jersey pockets.
Simpson’s main team was Peugeot, and so our commemorative Tom Simpson jersey uses the older Peugeot font while the shoulders have GB (for Great Britain) in the BP shield. The neck and armbands are in the World Champs rainbow stripes as worn by Simpson in 1966.

★★★★★Best cycling jersey ever wornBeen a rider for a long time since my teens. Just returned to the sport after a bereavement. Catching up on the latest equipment etc I have found clothing disappointing. Until I came across Soigneur and its jerseys. I was aware of Merino but not able to get it 100 percent. This jersey knocks it out of the park. I live in Chicago and have already worn my new jersey in the cold. No problems at all with wicking sweat and keeping me warm. Summer will be no problem either. Top quality finish, better fit than traditional lyrca and no adverts. As for Mr Simpson, I wear this as a tribute to him. Climbing Ventoux is on my bucket list, so I have ordered such a custom jersey from David for that moment, planned for 2025. Huge credit to David Carmen and his business. Great to see him offer something so unique, from such a distance! Totally awesome. Long may he prosper. Thank you.
★★★★★Delighted!I'm not only amazed by how quickly you did the artwork, created the garment, and got it half way around the globe - I'm also delighted with it. Many, many, thanks. I can't wait to wear it on the forthcoming Tom Simpson Memorial Ride!
★★★★★Eroica BritanniaI have worn this jersey to 4 Eroica Britannia rides, it always gets mentioned by fellow riders, it looks and feels amazing to wear, never losses it shape and never smells after long rides, a proper quality product, win or lose I'm buying another jersey from Soigner.co.nz
